Principal's End of Year Message

Another wonderful year

When this school year began, I shared the Mary Rowlandson Promise with you.

My work is important, I will always work hard.
People believe in me and I believe in myself
I won’t give up and we will not give up on you.
My effort counts so I will always try.
I am proud to be me here at MRE.

I think sharing this promise is an appropriate way to end the year too. Students and staff kept this promise all year and worked extremely hard to grow and learn.  The students have achieved academic and social successes because of the high expectations set for them and the effort they put forth to meet those expectations.  This was apparent over the past two weeks as many classes and grade levels shared those successes.  From our Gold winning fifth-grade band to the kindergarten students who are leaving the year able to read words and sentences for the first time, success is measured in many ways.

A key part of the students’ success is the parental and community support.  One of the best aspects of the Mary Rowlandson School is its sense of community and family.  Family support of the school has been tremendous over the past year.  Many parent volunteers have helped out in the classroom and on field trips.  Parents have supported the PTO which in turn has brought excellent enrichment programs into the school.  The Whale Mobile, the Dinosaur Lady, and the Cat in the Hat are just a few of the wonderful events the PTO brought into the school.  In addition, this past winter, parents and staff volunteers offered over 10 different enrichment activities for students.

Another measure of our success is the satisfaction of parents. The recently completed School Culture Survey reflects that satisfaction.  Most items on this survey received between a 90% and 95% approval rating. Check out the results on the following link.

It has been a wonderful year for our students because of the dedication of the staff, support of the parents and the effort of the students.
