Summer Reading
Summer Reading Choice Boards and Information for Incoming 1st, 2nd, 3rd Grade
Hi Families,
We wanted to pass along the summer reading choice boards, which are similar to what has been sent out the last few years. Students who complete their choice boards this summer and return them when school resumes will receive prizes! The choice boards are attached.
Current kindergarteners (incoming 1st graders) will use the Grade 1 blue sheets.
Current 1st graders (incoming 2nd graders) will use the Grade 2 yellow sheets.
Current 2nd graders (incoming 3rd graders) will use the Grade 3 green sheets.
These sheets can certainly be printed in black and white, and if you are not able to print, feel free to draw your own 24 squares on a sheet and include your child's name, parent signature, and your child's new teacher's name.
Each time your child reads any book for 20 minutes, they can color in a square on the choice board. For incoming 1st graders, any time you read to your child, this also counts towards summer reading. Please note that the activities listed are merely fun suggestions to help encourage summer reading. (Even if your child reads in the same place each time, he/she can still color in a square for every 20 minutes he/she reads.)
In order for a child to receive a prize, the choice board needs to have every square colored, and it needs to include your child's name, parent signature, and your child's new teacher's name.
Please reach out to our reading specialists with any questions.
